Coop Tullholmen Karlstad – A uniquely designed flagship store

In the centre of Karlstad, a stone’s throw from the beautiful Stadsträdgården park, is one of the city’s newest additions: a flagship store in the shape of Coop Tullholmen. The new food- and household-focused supermarket is a feast for the eyes – and its café pays tribute to one of Coop Värmland’s valued employees.

Coop Tullholmen in Karlstad, central Sweden, opened its doors in late 2022. It is located on the site of Coop Värmland’s old warehouse and bakery. The supermarket is a flagship store, and it offers something different to most other Coop stores in Sweden. The shop has a well-selected mixture of new and old, which is very pleasing to the eye. A unique environment, in short.

The shop’s café, Café Alicja, pays tribute to Alicja Högberg. Alicja started working at Coop Värmland’s bakery, which was previously located at Tullholmen, back in 1992. Today she is a pastry chef at Coop Värmland’s production facility Nästgårdsköket, but her name is still the first thing customers see at the new Coop Tullholmen.
